2009-2010 Season
PRODUCTION INFORMATION:
The Glass Menagerie
by Tennessee Williams
New Art Theatre/Living Classics Series continues a 25 year tradition of introducing the world's great plays -both modern and ancient- to new generations of playgoers and students, under the direction of Robert Shea. In this finely rendered production of Tennessee Williams' quietly devastating portrait of a family in chaos, we see, in stark poetic lines, bitter mother Amanda reliving an illusory past of grand promise rather than facing the dark reality of failed dreams; the desperation of shy, lame Laura, escaping to her own beautiful world in a treasured collection of fragile glass animals; and frantic Tom, trapped in a dead-end factory job, trying to leave this brutal life behind and build a better world somewhere else. A rare opportunity to see an American classic in three dimensions!
